Sports planning process

sports planning meetingGold Coast City Council recognises that grassroots sporting organisations may find it difficult to find the time to sit down and think about the future direction of your club.

To address this, Recreation Services in partnership with regional and/or state sporting bodies, divisional councillors and Community Grants Officers has developed a quick, simple, yet very effective strategic planning process called Sports Planning.  This process offers both sport and Council an effective tool to ensure that together, we plan for your future facility needs/improvements and we are able to deliver when required.

Through Sports Planning, clubs identify key projects they require funding for. Regional/State sporting bodies then review information from all of their clubs and prioritise from a whole of sport perspective.  This information is then provided to Council to plan for future infrastructure and to assist clubs in seeking funding from a variety of sources.

Currently over 95% of sporting clubs in the City participate in the annual Sports Planning Process. Since this process has been in place it has not only assisted clubs to obtain millions of dollars in funding for local projects, but also ensured clubs are able to engage in meaningful strategic planning.
