Broadwater Parklands

The Gold Coast's world class Broadwater Parklands offers a range of diverse locations and facilities for hire, designed for everything from large scale events to small family gatherings. The centrally located Parklands not only offers magnificent views and wide open spaces for community events, but also offers a number of more intimate locations such as the Pier and the Rooftop featuring the spectacular backdrop of the Surfers Paradise skyline. Whether it's a concert, a corporate function, a wedding or just a family BBQ, Broadwater Parklands has the perfect location to suit your needs.

The park offers a wide variety of recreational options including picnics and barbecues, strolling on the rooftop terrace to take in the spectacular views of Surfers Paradise, fishing off the pier, swimming, and lunchtime sports on the Great Lawn. The southern reclamation area is now 2.8 hectares of useable open space – four touch football fields end to end. Located on Marine Parade, Southport.  The three kilometre stretch of parklands along the foreshore is an ideal destination for all to enjoy.

The Park is split into a Northern, Central and Southern precinct. Each offering a range of attractions for you to enjoy.

Nothern Precinct

Main Entrance
Main Entrance

The main entrance to Broadwater Parklands is at the traffic lights and intersection of Nind Street and Marine Parade, Southport.

Fishermans Lawn
Fishermans Lawn

Man’s best friend will enjoy running off leash on the wide expanse of Fishermans lawn at the northern end of Broadwater Parklands. The lawn is next to the Broadwater Tourist Park and has beach access.

The Hub and Car Park
The Hub and Car Park

The Hub is located at the main entry to the Broadwater Parklands and houses the park's operations team. The car park adjacent to The Hub allows for some staff parking and 2 hour visitor parking.

Bathing Pavilion
Bathing Pavilion

Built in 1934, the Queensland heritage-listed, refurbished Bathing Pavilion building has two separable function rooms, bathroom and limited kitchen amenities. It is ideal as an art space or for small corporate or private events.

Mangroves
Mangroves

A mangrove wetland has been established with extensive yabby banks and areas suitable for sea grass establishment. This mangrove wetland improves the quality of stormwater discharged into the Broadwater and increases the diversity in marine habitat within the Parklands.

Aquatic centre
Aquatic centre

Dive into the Southport Aquatic Centre for a range of recreational activities like learn to swim, sports massage or simply relax by the pool. The centre has heated training pools, indoor teaching pool and a diving pool.

Central Precinct

Car park
Car park

This 200 space car park has many uses. On a day to day basis the car park is available for park users but the space also allows it to be easily transformed into the centre of activity for large sporting or cultural events.

Green room and amenities
Green room and amenities

Conveniently located close to the stage and main lawn the Green Room provides accommodation for performers and speakers when not on stage. The state of the art amenities block provides both indoor and outdoor showers and public toilets.

Rockpools
Rockpools

This is an exciting new sculptural water playground. The water play area is designed with cool water fountains and vibrant marine-themed equipment. It includes a creek bed and several tidal rockpools for children to splash, dam and explore. Rockpools Opening Hours: 1 December to 31 January 7am to 7pm, 1 February to 31 March 8am to 6pm, 1 April to 31 May 9am to 5pm, 1 June to 31 August 9am to 3pm, 1 September to 30 November 8am to 6pm - Please note the Rockpools are closed every Tuesday morning for maintenance unitl 12pm excluding 1 December to 31 January the rockpools will reopen at 9am *Hours may change due to weather conditions.

Situated overlooking the beautiful Broadwater and Main Lawn, choose from the cafe rockpools elegant seasonal menu items or enjoy something to take away and picnic within the surrounds of the park. The venue can also be booked for private functions after hours.

The Pier
The Pier

Stretching 105 metres into the Broadwater, The Pier is a focal point for the community and provides amazing views of the Surfers Paradise skyline, the Spit and Southport CBD.

This building includes park management, bike lockers, public toilets and shower facilities. Its rooftop offers spectacular views.

The Rooftop
The Rooftop

Ideal for special events and corporate functions, the Rooftop will capture the imagination of your guests as they enjoy your hospitality while taking in parkland and Broadwater views.

The Great Lawn
The Great Lawn

At the heart of the parklands is this vast expanse of green that is ideal for family picnics and fun. The Great Lawn will host some of the city’s popular events such as the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, Carols by Candlelight and the World Championship Triathlon.

The Promenade
The Promenade

Stroll along the promenade around the Great Lawn and the Little Lawn. The black and white paving, referred to as the piano keys, will eventually be a shaded avenue for leisurely strolls.

The Porch
The Porch

A favourite spot to watch movies on the large outdoor screen or to enjoy live music performances. The Porch is an outdoor theatre with full stage set-up including nearby change rooms and a green room.

The urban wetland

This 3.2-hectare wetland comprises a state of the art system of a series of ponds that collect, filter and clean stormwater through reeds and terraces before it enters the Broadwater. Walkways and bridges encourage exploration of this area of cascading water and reed-filled ponds.

Little lawn
Little lawn

The Little Lawn is a spacious area with views to the Broadwater and across the park’s wetlands. It is large enough to set up a marquee for corporate events, to hold team games or for visitors to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Washington Waters Children’s Playground

Great parks have great children’s playgrounds and the Broadwater Parklands is no exception. It has a variety of fun play equipment – like swings, a giant lizards, bike education track, mono rail peddle bikes and a flying fox – as well as a special Liberty swing for children of all abilities.

A special enclosed swimming lagoon. It is patrolled by Council lifeguards from 8.30am to 4.30pm during September, school holidays and every weekend in summer. Adding to the beach culture experience, permanent beach umbrellas and barbecues are provided as well as a children’s playground and toilets.

Pandanus Point
Pandanus Point

Tucked away for privacy, Pandanus Point is a wonderful romantic setting amid the sway of Pandanus trees and the gentle sounds of water lapping the edge of the Broadwater. It has a timber deck with bench seats, providing a wonderful place for an intimate wedding or private group celebration.

Southern Precinct

Anzac Park
Anzac Park

Designed specifically as a memorial space for Anzac Day and memorial activities. The existing Anzac memorial has been carefully relocated by the waters edge at the front of this improved formal ceremonial space.

The Hill
The Hill

The space allows for large groups of people to gather and observe memorial services and events. The Hill is the highest landscape feature in the Broadwater Parklands and is home to the Maddie and Bear sculptures created by Gold Coast artist and award-winning Hollywood animator John Cox.

Enjoy the peaceful surrounds of nature as you stroll along the pathway and take in the stunning views of the Broadwater and Surfers Paradise.
