Parks and recreation

The Gold Coast is the first city in Australia to hold Parkrun.

Parkrun is a not-for-profit organisation that offers a free, weekly electronically timed five kilometre run (or walk), catering for all ages and fitness levels. Established in England in 2004, the first Parkrun attracted just 13 runners but since then 55,000 “Parkrunners” in the UK and Denmark have completed more than 350,000 runs to date.

Parkrun is designed to encourage the community to participate in fitness activities and meet other people at the same time. It is free and open to all ages. You can run, walk, push a pram or even take your dog and it’s a great way to meet others and get out and enjoy one of our wonderful parks.

Parkrun is offered in 3 locations on the Gold Coast each Saturday at 7am
Hollindale Park, Main Beach
Giltrap Park, Musgrave Street Kirra
Tallowood Park, Rose Valley Drive
Registration for your first run is essential. To register or get more information, visit
Parkrun is organised by local volunteers with support from the organisation.
